Cover Story: Microalgae produce an extraordinary variety of active metabolites that are closely linked to the unique features of their environmental habitats. Considering the market demand for environmentally friendly and safe cosmetics, there is a lot of interest in the exploitation of new or underused microalgae species. The present study aimed to investigate the cosmeceutical properties of Trachydiscus minutus. The results indicated that T. minutus aqueous extracts display substantial potential as they have antioxidant, UVA protection, anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties. E T. minutus extracts were formulated into a skin care cream and an aqueous gel. Both cosmetic formulas exhibited excellent compatibility and stability. View this paper
