2024 December - 69 articles

Cover Story: This study presents the design, simulation, and development of a rehabilitation glove powered by soft pneumatic actuators. The novel actuator combines cylindrical and ribbed geometries with a reinforced structure to form an asymmetric bellow actuator driven by positive pressure. The actuator's performance was validated through open-source numerical simulations. We 3D-printed a rehabilitation glove using thermoplastic polyurethane with varying wall thicknesses. We developed pseudo-rigid kinematic models for the index and little finger actuators based on pressure and link lengths and compared the actuator's workspace, derived through forward kinematics and experimental data. Finally, we performed an ergonomic assessment of the rehabilitation glove during interactions with a human hand. View this paper
