Cover Story: We show that the Fe-Mn-Cu ore deposit of Jbel Rhals (Morocco) has a polyphased metallogenic history, with mineralization resulting from supergene processes superimposed over hydrothermal alteration. Weathering most probably related to the Cenozoic uplift(s) of the High Atlas enabled the formation of a supergene ore mainly composed of goethite replacing, by pseudomorphose, hydrothermal siderite. The supergene processes also led to an enrichment in HREE, Y, and mobile elements such as U in secondary minerals. View this paper
