Cover Story: From the uterine tumor spectrum, one of the most aggressive entities is leiomyosarcoma. It represents one of the great public health problems worldwide, especially from the perspective of oncological treatment. These characteristics are accentuated by the possibility of the appearance of this neoplasm as a recurrence of a smooth muscle tumor with uncertain malignant potential. Our work presents the clinical, pathological and evolutionary characteristics of these two tumor types diagnosed over a period of 5 years. The study of the p53 pathogenic pathway and the tumor inflammatory infiltrate led to the indication of a new therapeutic target. Future studies are needed to identify therapies that will determine the favorable evolution of patients diagnosed with this pathology. View this paper
