Section Information
The section “Electrical Technologies” aims to provide a wide-ranging view of recent advances in the field. The topics of interest for this section include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Power generation and distribution from a variety of sources, including fossil fuels, nuclear energy, hydroelectric power, wind power, and solar power; production of electricity and its transportation to homes, businesses, and industries.
- Electronic devices and their applications: design and manufacturing of electronic devices such as computers, televisions, smartphones, and other consumer electronics.
- Information transmission over distances through electronic means, such as telephones, radios, and the internet: wired and wireless networks, satellite systems, and mobile devices.
- Electronic and computerized systems to control and monitor industrial processes: robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other technologies used in manufacturing and other industrial applications.
- Renewable energy: generation of energy from sources that are replenished naturally over time, such as solar, wind, and geothermal energy; reduction in reliance on fossil fuels and a transition toward more sustainable energy sources.
