Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Transport forms the core of many economic and social development challenges. With increasing global attention being paid to emission levels and air quality, the design of transportation products is being developed toward sustainability. As information and communication technology have advanced, the innovative applications of sustainable transportation have begun to include autonomous driving technologies, transmission systems, Mobility as a Service functionalities, and system infrastructures. These may cover many research topics related to the interface design between people (users) and sustainable transportation at different stages (e.g., green transportation product design, transportation product eco-design, manufacturing, product performances, and user acceptance). Human–computer interaction (HCI) researchers have observed the ways in which users interact with computers and design technologies, which, in turn, allow them to interact with computers and computer-based systems in natural ways. In sustainable transportation, HCI is a field that requires significant innovation and breakthroughs in order to tackle new challenges.

This Special Issue is devoted to publishing the latest high-quality original articles and reviews related to the design, evaluation, and implementation of interactive sustainable transportation systems for human use.

The topics applicable to this Special Issue include but are not limited to:

  • Human–computer Interaction Technology in Sustainable Transportation;
  • Human–computer Interaction Application in Sustainable Transportation Design;
  • A Change in the Human–computer Interaction Mode from the Perspective of Innovation Sustainable Transportation;
  • Natural Human–computer Interaction as the Main Mode of Interaction in Sustainable Transportation;
  • A Breakthrough of Human–computer Interaction Technology under the Demand of Sustainable Transportation;
  • An Analysis of Human–computer Interaction;
  • Communication Protocol in Sustainable Transportation.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
