Advanced 1D, 2D and 3D Nanomaterials

Dear Colleagues,

The development of advanced 1D, 2D, and 3D nanomaterials represents a cornerstone of modern materials science, offering unique physical, chemical, electronic, and mechanical properties that continue to revolutionize technologies across a wide range of industries. From carbon nanotubes and nanowires to graphene, phosphorus-based nanomaterials, MXenes, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), aerogels, and hierarchical nanocomposites, these materials provide new possibilities for innovations in electronics, catalysis, energy storage and conversion, sensing, and biomedicine.

This Topical Collection aims to provide a focused platform for showcasing cutting-edge research, novel synthesis approaches, and emerging applications of 1D, 2D, and 3D nanomaterials. We welcome contributions that explore materials design, scalable processing techniques, fundamental property–structure relationships, and integration into functional devices.

We especially encourage interdisciplinary work that connects nanoscience with applications in photonics, energy systems, environmental technologies, smart devices, and biointerfaces. Topics of interest include surface and interface engineering, self-assembly and hierarchical structuring, hybrid and multifunctional systems, and computational modeling of nanoscale phenomena.

By bringing together contributions from researchers across academia and industry, this Special Issue aims to deepen our understanding of the role dimensionality plays in performance optimization, functionality tailoring, and technological translation of nanomaterials.

We invite original research articles, reviews, communications, and perspectives that address both foundational advances and application-driven innovations in the field of nanomaterials.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sci is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
