Dear Colleagues,
The increasing availability of multimodal biological and biomedical data generated by medical imaging systems, wearable devices, smart sensors, omics technologies, and intelligent digital platforms is creating unprecedented opportunities for multimedia computing, artificial intelligence, and data-driven innovation in bioengineering and life sciences.
This Special Issue focuses on emerging multimedia methodologies and intelligent computational systems for biological, biomedical, and healthcare applications. The issue particularly encourages contributions involving multimodal data fusion, biosignal and image processing, multimedia computing, intelligent sensing systems, immersive technologies, human-centered digital platforms, and AI-driven methodologies for biological and biomedical applications.
This Special Issue is organized in connection with the BioSMART 2026 Conference (https://www.biosmart-conference.org/) and aims to provide an interdisciplinary forum for researchers working at the intersection of multimedia technologies, artificial intelligence, biosignal processing, bioengineering, and intelligent systems. We welcome extended versions of submissions from the conference as well as regular submissions within this field.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Multimedia is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
