Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

For the past two decades, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been a rapidly growing area of research around the globe. This important class of modern materials are synthesized using inorganic metal nodes and organic linkers. A high degree of synthetic diversity and tunability along with high surface areas has made MOFs highly versatile materials with applications in the field of catalysis, gas storage, and gas separation. The unique properties, especially high surface area, permanent porosity, and ability to undergo pre- and post-synthetic modifications, make these porous materials an excellent candidate for catalysis.

Considering the immense growth and progress in this research field, Molecules is launching this Special Issue on “Synthesis of New Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and Their Use as Catalysts” with the aim to showcase the most exciting and recent work in this field. The topics in this Special Issue include but are not limited to the synthesis of new MOFs, characterization of new MOFs, use of MOFs as organic catalysts, use of MOFs as photocatalysts, use of MOFs as electrocatalysts, post-synthetic modifications in MOFs, and scope and methods of tuning the properties of MOFs.

The ultimate goal of this Special Issue is to collect original recent full research articles, short communications, and up-to-date review articles in this area to provide our viewers with a comprehensive collection of relevant research work in the field. We look forward to your contribution in this Special Issue.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
