Mineral Exploration Methods and Applications
A section of Minerals (ISSN 2075-163X).
Section Information
The “Mineral Exploration Methods and Applications Section” publishes research papers that advance the discovery of mineral resources through innovative exploration technologies, modern geological concepts, and advanced computational approaches. We welcome submissions that introduce new exploration methodologies, propose novel interpretation frameworks, or present case studies demonstrating successful applications of established or emerging techniques. The Section particularly encourages research on next-generation exploration technologies, including advanced gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic, radiometric, seismic, hyperspectral, and satellite-based methods, as well as integrated multiphysics workflows. Studies addressing the mathematical and computational foundations of data processing, modeling, inversion, and interpretation are especially valued. We also strongly welcome papers incorporating machine learning, artificial intelligence, data fusion, and automated targeting workflows.
Given the increasing global demand for minerals critical to the energy transition, we particularly invite contributions focused on the exploration of critical minerals and rare earth elements (REEs). Airborne, ground-based, and borehole investigations, along with analytical, laboratory, and rock-sample studies that support mineral exploration, fall within the scope of this Section. We seek high-quality theoretical papers, innovative algorithms, and applied studies that advance the efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability of mineral exploration.
