Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature
Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for
future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive
positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world.
Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly
interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the
most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.
As Editor-in-Chief of Metals, I am pleased to announce the winner of the 2016 Travel Award sponsored by Metals:
The Travel Award is granted to Dr. Ahmad Talaat, a post-doctoral fellow at Faculty of Chemistry, Material Physics Department, University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, San Sebastian, Spain. The award consists of 800 Swiss Francs.
From the applications received, it is obvious that there was a large pool of highly qualified candidates that deserve this award. Given the fact that only one award was available, it was not a simple task to select the winner for this year. In the election process, an experienced committee closely examined the applicants’ submitted documents, and ranked them based on strong research productivity and performance merit. From the outcome of this exercise Ahmad Talaat was ranked by three out of four committee members (including the Editor-in-Chief) as the winner of this year’s award. Please join me in congratulating Ahmad Talaat for a well-deserved prize.
