Dear Colleagues,
The Special Issue “Home Dialysis: Clinical Practice and Advances” aims to compile an important collection of manuscript reviews centered around Home Dialysis, both peritoneal dialysis (PD) and home hemodialysis (HHD), two significant modalities of kidney replacement therapy for patients with end-stage renal disease.
This Special Issue will explore the current state of clinical practices and outcomes in home dialysis, complications of both therapies as well as explore future challenges and current research. Several developments have been advancing the field that can be explored in this current issue, including the following: (1) Smaller, easier-to-use machines (manufacturers have been developing more compact home hemodialysis systems that require less setup and training). (2) Remote patient monitoring (many newer systems can transmit treatment data to healthcare teams. Clinicians can review treatments remotely, identify problems earlier, and provide support without requiring as many clinic visits). (3) Increased use of telehealth. (4) Improved dialysis technology (newer automated PD cyclers and more compact HD machines, software, and monitoring tools help simplify home treatments and improve adherence). (5) Wearable and portable dialysis research (Work continues on wearable artificial kidney devices and highly portable dialysis systems. These technologies are promising but are generally still in development and not yet widely available as standard care). (6) Policy and healthcare initiatives (in several countries, including the United States, healthcare systems have encouraged greater use of home dialysis through reimbursement changes and kidney-care initiatives, leading to more investment in training and home-based care programs).

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Kidney and Dialysis is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
