Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Kidney transplantation remains the optimal treatment for end-stage renal disease, yet challenges such as organ shortage, graft rejection, and long-term complications persist. Personalized medicine offers a transformative approach by tailoring prevention, diagnosis, and treatment/management strategies to individual patient parameters, including genetic, immunological, and clinical profiles and medication tolerance/side effects.
The evolution of kidney transplantation has been marked by significant milestones, from early surgical techniques to the advent of donor matching and immunosuppressive therapies. Recent advancements in genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics have paved the way for integrating personalized medicine into transplant care, enhancing precision and patient outcomes.
This Special Issue aims to explore the latest developments and applications of personalized medicine in kidney transplantation. It seeks to cover a broad range of topics, including biomarker discovery, pharmacogenomics, donor–recipient matching, immune monitoring, and novel therapeutic interventions, with a focus on improving graft survival and patient quality of life.
We invite submissions that highlight innovative research in personalized medicine for kidney transplantation, such as the use of machine learning algorithms for risk prediction, the development and evaluation of personalized immunosuppressive regimens, and the exploration of novel biomarkers for early detection of rejection, recurrent disease, or tolerance and efforts to expand access to kidney transplant.
We welcome original research articles and reviews that contribute to the understanding and advancement of personalized medicine in kidney transplantation. Submissions should provide insights into the clinical translation of personalized approaches, address current challenges, and propose future directions for research and practice.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Personalized Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
