Updates on Embolization and Embolotherapy for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and Men’s Health

Dear Colleagues, 

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and associated lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) remain among the most common conditions impacting men’s health worldwide. Prostatic artery embolization (PAE) has emerged as a minimally invasive, organ-sparing treatment option, with growing evidence supporting its safety, efficacy, and durability across a broad spectrum of patients. This Special Issue will focus on the contemporary and future role of PAE and related embolotherapy in BPH management and men’s health.

We aim to feature state-of-the-art reviews and original research addressing: updates in the PAE literature and Level 1 evidence; patient selection and clinical outcomes; complication prevention and management (including penile/glans ischemia and ulceration); PAE in complex clinical settings such as prior or planned radiotherapy for prostate cancer; radiation exposure and safety in outpatient practice; and anatomic variants and rare arterial patterns relevant to PAE planning and technique. Additional topics will include the role of PAE as an adjunct to minimally invasive surgical therapies (e.g., aquablation), comparative data on embolic agents and particle technologies, cost-effectiveness, quality-of-life outcomes, and future directions in image-guided men’s health interventions.

We welcome original research articles, systematic reviews, technical notes, and illustrative case series aligned with this scope.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
