Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Integrating research data into clinical practice is becoming increasingly challenging in an era of rapid scientific and technological advancement. Global guidelines and policies aim to align with patient needs, prioritizing safety and quality while accounting for healthcare system capacities. However, despite the availability of high-quality research, factors such as the practicality and attainability of recommendations often come into question.
Clinicians and researchers continually assess the strengths and limitations of research findings by revisiting key quality indicators in real-world clinical settings. Evidence-based decision-making in diagnostics and treatment is tested in practice, making real-world data essential. Innovative research, audits, and case series that explore feasibility and effectiveness are vital for enhancing research and translating it into practice.
Particularly for the field of respiratory medicine, the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of real-world data in delivering reliable, timely solutions to evolving challenges.
This Special Issue invites original research studies, comprehensive reviews, and meta-analyses exploring the strengths and limitations of international and national guidelines, policies, and directives in the diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases. Additionally, we welcome real-world data examining the integration and interaction between secondary and tertiary care in managing both chronic and acute respiratory disorders, including asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis, sleep-disordered breathing, pleural disorders and lung cancer.
