Advancements in Antioxidant Molecules: From Discovery to Therapeutic Applications

Dear Colleagues,

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are commonly produced by cells during normal metabolic activity, and, under physiological conditions, different antioxidant enzymes mediate their removal. Without correct inactivation or in case of over-exposure to ROS inducer factors, oxidative stress is closely related to several pathological conditions, from skin photo-aging processes to carcinogenesis.

In this Special Issue, we will collect innovative studies about the development of small molecules endowed with potential antioxidant activities. Innovative aspects, novel biological mechanisms of action, and novel target validation are also welcome. In conclusion, this Special Issue focuses on the study of natural and synthetic antioxidant compounds, their pharmacological evaluation, computational modeling, and structural biology studies.
