Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the foremost cause of global mortality and are characterized by progressive pathophysiological remodeling that ultimately impairs cardiac structure and function. A defining feature of CVD is its chronic and progressive course, in which pathological changes—such as cardiomyopathy, myocardial fibrosis, microvascular and endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, and bioenergetic impairment—gradually advance from early stages to overt disease if left unaddressed. Elucidating the molecular mechanisms that drive this progression is critical for identifying novel therapeutic targets and developing more effective interventions.

The primary objective of this Special Issue, Molecular Mechanisms in Cardiovascular Disease Progression, is to invite original research and review articles that investigate the molecular basis of CVD across major pathological entities, including ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathies (hypertrophic and dilated), heart failure with preserved or reduced ejection fraction (HFpEF/HFrEF), and vascular disorders such as atherosclerosis and endothelial dysfunction. Submissions focused on signal transduction, transcriptional and epigenetic regulation, oxidative stress, inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and sarcomeric remodeling are particularly encouraged.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
