Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The open-access, peer-reviewed journal Humanities invites submissions for a special issue dedicated to French Fantasy Literature. Despite the global prominence of fantasy as a literary genre, the contributions of French authors remain underexplored in Anglophone scholarship. This special issue seeks to highlight the richness and diversity of contemporary French fantasy literature, its theoretical frameworks, and its place within the broader fantasy tradition.
We welcome submissions on topics including, but not limited to:
- Studies of modern French fantasy authors and their works
- Analysis of recent books by French fantasy writers
- Interviews with French fantasy authors
- Theoretical approaches to French fantasy literature
- Comparative studies between French fantasy and other national traditions
- Exploration of sub-genres within French fantasy (e.g., mythological fantasy, historical fantasy, steampunk, etc.)
- Médiévaliste Literature in French
Articles will be published in English. Interested contributors should submit article proposals to alescart@pointloma.edu. Full articles should be submitted in December 2025 for peer review.
For further information, please visit the Humanities journal website. We look forward to your contributions!

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process.
