Traditional Herbal Medicines in the Management of Health and Agriculture

Dear Colleagues,

Natural products comprising extracts, bioactive molecules, essential oils, oleoresins, and several other products are highly utilized in industrial industries, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry. These molecules are important agents in the management of oxidative stress and inflammation, which are the underlying factors for all degenerative diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, neurological ailments, and even various types of cancers. These molecules have also emerged as functional foods or nutraceuticals, due to their significant roles in radical scavenging. As well as having an important role in the control of degenerative diseases, these molecules are also widely utilized in the management of infectious diseases. By virtue of their antibacterial and antifungal properties, these molecules are promising agents in preventing the occurrence and progression of infectious diseases. The special Issue is open for manuscripts dealing with the agricultural aspects of species used in traditional herbal medicine and their beneficial effects on health.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Horticulturae is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
