The 44th National Congress of the Italian Society of Nephrology Nurses (SIAN) will be held 4–6 May 2026 in Bologna, Italy, bringing together healthcare professionals, researchers, and experts involved in nephrology care and renal replacement therapies.
This national scientific meeting aims to promote discussion on the evolution of nephrology nursing, clinical innovation, and multidisciplinary collaboration in the management of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). In recent years, nephrology has undergone profound transformation due to advances in technology, integrated care models, and increasing attention to patient quality of life. Within this context, the role of the nurse has become increasingly central in the management of chronic conditions, prevention strategies, and patient education.
The congress scientific program will include plenary lectures, round tables, scientific sessions, and interactive workshops, focusing on several key topics in contemporary nephrology care. These include prevention and proactive management of CKD, advanced nursing competencies in dialysis and transplantation, sustainability and environmental challenges in renal care, vascular access management, continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRT), peritoneal dialysis, clinical nutrition in nephrology, and the integration of digital technologies such as telemedicine and artificial intelligence.
The event will also provide opportunities for the presentation of original research contributions, clinical experiences, and quality improvement projects, highlighting the growing role of nursing research in nephrology practice.
The congress is accredited within the Italian Continuing Medical Education (ECM) system, providing educational credits for healthcare professionals.
