Generative Artificial Intelligence in Finance
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is fundamentally reshaping the financial services landscape by enabling unprecedented capabilities in data synthesis, decision support, and human–AI interaction. From large language models that underpin intelligent advisory systems to generative models for risk simulation and fraud detection, GenAI signals a shift beyond traditional predictive analytics toward generative, context-aware intelligence. This Special Issue seeks to advance a deeper and more nuanced understanding of how GenAI is transforming core financial functions, including investment management, credit evaluation, customer engagement, and regulatory compliance.
We invite contributions that critically examine both the transformative potential and inherent challenges of GenAI in finance. On the one hand, GenAI facilitates hyper-personalization, automates complex financial reasoning, and enhances operational efficiency. On the other hand, it introduces significant concerns related to model opacity, algorithmic bias, data privacy, and regulatory oversight. We particularly encourage research on emerging themes such as AI-driven robo-advisory, synthetic financial data generation, explainable AI in high-stakes financial decision-making, and the evolving dynamics of human–AI collaboration.
By bridging perspectives from finance, fintech, information systems, and artificial intelligence, this Special Issue aims to foster rigorous, theory-driven, and practice-relevant research. It provides a multidisciplinary platform to advance scholarly discourse and inform industry practices in navigating the next generation of AI-enabled financial innovation. While the topics outlined above are illustrative, submissions are not restricted to these areas, and contributions addressing other relevant dimensions of GenAI in finance are strongly encouraged.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. FinTech is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs).
