Special Issue Information

We are accepting submissions to a Special Issue of Energies on the subject area of “COVID-19: The Threat to Global Economy or an Opportunity for Growth and Development”. Very few countries in the world are not in the midst of the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus. In order to preserve the health of the population, many states have introduced a series of measures, including quarantines, with which some industries have faced huge losses, and some are gaining in financial profits. The purpose of this issue is to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on stock markets, unemployment rate, the travel and tourism industry, retail industry, oil and gas industry, car industry, pharmaceutical industry, manufacturing industry, and artificial inteligence (AI). Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Stock markets during COVID-19;
  • Unemploment rate before and during COVID-19;
  • Job trends during COVID-19;
  • The impact of COVID-19 on travel and tourism industry;
  • The impact of COVID-19 on oil and gas industry;
  • The impact of COVID-19 on manufacturing industry;
  • The impact of COVID-19 on car industry;
  • Crisis management during COVID-19;
  • Consumer purchasing behaviour during COVID-19;
  • The growing need for AI for ecconomy recovery;
  • The impact of COVID-19 on transformation in economy.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
