Advanced Wireless Communication Technologies: Paving the Way for the Future
This special issue belongs to the section “Networks“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In recent years, advanced wireless communication technologies such as 5G and 6G have been developing at an astonishing pace. With its high-speed data transfer, ultra-low latency, and massive device-connectivity capabilities, 5G has already started to reshape various industries. It enables applications like smart cities, where urban management becomes more efficient through real-time data collection and analysis from a vast number of sensors; in autonomous driving, 5G ensures seamless communication between vehicles and the surrounding infrastructure, enhancing traffic safety and efficiency.
Now, the research on 6G is in full swing. Approaching the terabit-per-second level and with latency reduced to microsecond levels, 6G is envisioned to provide even higher data rates. It aims to achieve true global seamless coverage, including the most remote areas on Earth and even in space-related applications. Technologies like terahertz communication, quantum communication, and the integration of space–air–ground networks are at the forefront of 6G research.
This Special Issue focuses on these advanced wireless communication technologies. Its purpose is to bring together the latest research findings, innovative ideas, and practical applications in the fields of 5G, 6G, and related advanced wireless communication technologies. By doing so, we hope to provide a platform for academic exchanges, promote in-depth understanding among researchers, and stimulate further technological innovation. It also aims to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial applications, guiding the development of future wireless communication systems. This Special Issue is of great significance as it helps us better understand the development trends of wireless communication technologies, seize development opportunities, and meet the growing demands for high-speed, reliable, and intelligent communication in modern society.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
