Section Information
This section of Diseases encompasses the effects of food and food products (nutraceuticals) on metabolic, endocrine and immune functions in health and disease. In view of the growing cases of food-related diseases involving cardiovascular, nervous, and digestive systems, respectively, attention will be particularly devoted to mechanisms of oxidative, and inflammatory damage. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on natural products for their effects on the gut microbiota. Either preclinical or clinical investigations are welcome.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- polyphenols
- micronutrients/vitamins
- fatty acids
- proteins
- modulation of the gut microbiota
- oxidative and immune mechanisms of food-related diseases
- nutrition and cardiovascular diseases
- nutrition and nervous system diseases
- nutrition and hepatogastroenterological diseases
