Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce a call for papers for the special issue titled "Fetal Doppler Assessment: From Basic Research to Clinical Practice" in the journal Diagnostics. As Guest Editor, I invite researchers, clinicians, and scientists from around the globe to submit their high-quality research contributions focused on the use of fetal Doppler technology in both basic science and clinical practice.
Fetal Doppler ultrasound is an essential tool in modern obstetrics, offering valuable insights into the fetal environment. By assessing blood flow in the umbilical, cerebral, and other vascular regions, this technique helps clinicians monitor fetal well-being and detect potential complications such as fetal growth restriction, preeclampsia, and placental dysfunction. From early-stage research to clinical applications, advancements in fetal Doppler assessments hold great potential for improving maternal-fetal health outcomes and guiding clinical decision-making.
This special issue aims to highlight the latest developments in the field, covering a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
- The role of fetal Doppler in assessing fetal growth restriction (FGR)
- Advances in Doppler imaging techniques and technology
- Applications of fetal Doppler in preeclampsia, placental abruption, and other complications
- The clinical utility of Doppler in assessing fetal heart, cerebral, and hepatic circulation
- Mechanisms underlying fetal-placental hemodynamics
- The potential of Doppler ultrasound as a predictive tool for adverse pregnancy outcomes
- Integrating fetal Doppler findings into clinical practice: challenges and opportunities
We welcome both original research articles and review papers that provide significant contributions to the advancement of fetal Doppler applications. Submissions should offer novel insights into the mechanisms of fetal development and pathophysiology, as well as clinical innovations in the interpretation and application of Doppler findings. Interdisciplinary perspectives are highly encouraged, as this field requires collaboration between obstetricians, radiologists, pediatricians, and researchers.
This special issue will offer a unique platform for scientists and clinicians to share their expertise, exchange ideas, and contribute to the broader understanding of fetal health. Through your participation, we hope to enhance the role of fetal Doppler assessments in clinical practice and push the boundaries of this technology to improve maternal and fetal care worldwide.
We look forward to receiving your valuable submissions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
