Advancement in Prostate Imaging
This special issue belongs to the section “Medical Imaging and Theranostics“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Over the past several years, there are many advances in the field of prostate imaging especially in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. Advances in prostate imaging include Multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) as one example of an imaging modality that has recently been implemented to aid the diagnosis of cancer prostate including MRI guided biopsy with ultrasound/MRI image fusion. Additional encouraging innovations include the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound, ultrasound elastography, and prostate-specific membrane antigen-directed positron emission tomography (PSMA-PET).
In recent years, Artificial intelligence (AI) has become the main player in the radiological detection, diagnosis, and management of diseases including prostate cancer. Implementing biomarkers, mpMRI findings including PI-RADs scoring system, and histopathology allowed great improvement in the diagnosis of prostate lesions as well the management plan.
This special issue aims to comprehensively cover all aspects of novel diagnostic imaging of prostate cancer including different imaging modalities as well the current role and future perspectives of AI.
