Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Recent advances in offshore structure design and installation for oil, gas and renewable energy (wind, waves, tidal currents) highlight the need to understand complex wave/current–seabed–structure interactions. Understanding these interactions is essential for ensuring the safety, serviceability and long-term resilience of marine infrastructure under increasingly challenging environmental conditions.
This Special Issue aims to collect high-quality research contributions that advance the fundamental understanding and practical assessment of wave–seabed–structure interactions. We invite papers addressing a broad range of topics related to marine hazards and infrastructure stability, including but not limited to, the following:
- Marine geology, seabed characterization, hydrodynamic processes and wave/current-induced loading;
- Wave–seabed interactions, transient and residual liquefaction, scour processes around foundations and sediment transport;
- Dynamic response of marine structures (pipelines, monopiles, suction caissons, gravity-based foundations and floating systems), wave–soil–structure interaction and foundation stability analysis;
- In situ observations and field monitoring, laboratory experiments (including flume tests and centrifuge modeling), numerical simulations (CFD, FEM, DEM and coupled approaches) and theoretical analyses;
- Application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to marine geotechnics prediction and risk assessment;
- Innovative methods for foundation instability protection and infrastructure resilience;
- Combined hazards under extreme storms, sea-level rise, earthquake, landslide and changing climate conditions to the seabed and structures system, as well as relevant decision support systems for natural hazard and emergency management.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Coasts is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
