Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Materials, and Thermofluid Modeling for Energy and Aerodynamic Systems
This special issue belongs to the section "AI Systems: Theory and Applications".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid evolution of advanced materials, thermofluid sciences, computational modeling, and artificial intelligence is transforming the design and operation of modern engineering systems. Applications ranging from aerospace and transportation to renewable energy, manufacturing, and thermal management increasingly rely on accurate predictive models capable of describing complex interactions among materials, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and aerodynamic phenomena.
Traditional approaches based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), heat transfer theory, and multiphysics simulations continue to provide the scientific foundation for understanding these systems. However, recent advances in machine learning, deep learning, surrogate modeling, digital twins, and physics-informed artificial intelligence have created new opportunities to accelerate simulations, optimize designs, improve predictive accuracy, and enable real-time decision-making.
This Special Issue aims to bring together researchers working at the intersection of advanced materials, thermofluids, aerodynamics, numerical modeling, and artificial intelligence. Contributions addressing theoretical developments, computational methods, experimental validations, and industrial applications are particularly welcome.
This Special Issue aligns with the scope of engineering, applied sciences, materials science, and computational mechanics by emphasizing mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, optimization, and AI-assisted approaches for complex physical systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. AI is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
