Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The evolution of wireless communication networks is more important than ever, enabling seamless connectivity across sectors as diverse as healthcare, transportation, smart cities and the Internet of Things (IoT).

This Special Issue, “Smart Networks for a Smart World: Trends in Wireless Communication,” aims to provide a platform for the latest research, innovations, and applications driving the next generation of intelligent wireless systems enhanced by Artificial Intelligence.

We invite researchers, academics and industry experts to submit original research papers, review articles and case studies that explore the latest trends and challenges in smart wireless networks. Submissions should focus on the design, optimisation and deployment of advanced communication technologies by integrating Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL) and other cutting-edge technologies that address real-world challenges in enabling a smart and connected world.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • AI and Machine Learning for Wireless Communication: applications of AI in spectrum sensing, network optimisation, and predictive maintenance.
  • 5G and Beyond: innovations in 5G technology, 6G visions, and enabling technologies.
  • IoT Connectivity: protocols, architectures, and technologies for efficient IoT communication.
  • Cognitive Radio and Dynamic Spectrum Access: advances in spectrum management for enhanced wireless performance.
  • Energy-Efficient Communication: techniques and protocols for green and sustainable networks.
  • Network Security and Privacy: solutions to secure data transmission and protect privacy in wireless systems.
  • Edge and Cloud Computing in Wireless Networks: integrating edge computing for low-latency applications.
  • Wireless Communication for Smart Cities: urban connectivity solutions and smart infrastructure.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. AI is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
