Dear Colleagues,
The Forth Industrial Revolution has started to be present in the farming scope by means of Smart Farms that, similar to what is happening with Smart Factories, pursue the interconnection of machines and systems with the premises—in this case, agricultural parcels and first processing facilities. On one hand, the objective is the adaptability of production systems, thanks, for example, to improvements in crop rotation to obtain better production levels, and on the other hand, efficiency of production systems, by means of optimization in the use of water, fertilizers, and phytosanitary products, creating what is denominated as Precision Agriculture. As part of this paradigm, we have tools for the management, operation, and planning levels of a farm, as well as for helping technicians in making decisions about problems that may be rapidly changing and not easily specified in advance. These tools are the decision support systems (DSSs). This Special Issue will focus on the new technologies that could be part of DSSs for providing the bases for giving the best answer for crop protection. We welcome novel research, reviews, and opinion pieces covering all related topics, including decisions support systems, farm management information systems, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, remote sensing, blockchain, management solutions, modeling, case studies from the field, and policy positions.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Agronomy is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
