Nutritional Strategies for Enhancing Gut Health, Animal Welfare, and Productivity in Poultry and Swine

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue emphasizes the pivotal role of gut health in monogastric animals, a key determinant of growth performance, immune competence, and overall productivity, a topic that has drawn significant interest from animal nutritionists both in academic research and the livestock industry. With increasing restrictions on antibiotic use and growing concerns for animal welfare, there is a pressing need for nutritional strategies that preserve intestinal integrity, modulate immune responses, and enhance resilience to environmental and physiological stress in poultry and swine.

Advances in nutrigenomics, microbiome research, and functional feed additives offer promising avenues to optimize gut function, improve animal health, and increase production efficiency. We invite original research, reviews, and short communications on subjects including prebiotics, probiotics, enzymes, phytogenics, functional trace minerals, and precision nutrition. Studies employing omics approaches or exploring gut–microbiota–immune interactions are particularly encouraged. Contributions should clearly demonstrate how nutritional interventions can enhance gut health, support welfare, and sustain or improve growth performance, underscoring their relevance to both scientific research and practical applications in monogastric animal production.
