Cover Story: The majority of adolescent girls do not engage in the recommended 60 minutes per day of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. Schools provide a useful environment to intervene with this population. Adolescent girls’ friendship networks can be targeted to influence physical activity behaviours. A novel school three-tier, peer-led, mentoring model shows promise for promoting girls' moderate-to-vigorous physical activity levels when combined with physical activity opportunities at an after-school club.
