Cover Story: The 15288-SysML grid described in this paper depicts the intersection of the processes contained in the international life cycle standard for systems (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288) with the four fundamental design aspects underlying the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) during a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) design approach. The intersection between 15288 and the design aspects of SysML, described in the 15288-SysML grid, provides a visual aid for the creation, storage, and utilization of digital artifacts that form the data, relationships, perspectives, and views that enable the 14 technical and 8 technical management processes contained in the 15288 standard. The construct of the grid provides the necessary and sufficient processes required to address expectations for attributes such as granularity and level of detail required during system elucidation.
