Cover Story: The investigation of different quartz types from the southern Ural region of Russia revealed very low concentrations of trace elements and structural defects. The main driving process for the formation of these high-purity quartz deposits is retrograde metamorphism that caused healing of defects and lowering of impurity contents due to deformation-related recrystallization processes of the quartz lattice. This study highlights the integrated approach of advanced analytical methods for the characterization of quartz suitable for high-tech applications. View this paper
