Cover Story: Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is the most frequently occurring autoimmune disease in children and adolescents. T1DM is associated with developing microvascular complications, including diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinopathy, and diabetic neuropathy. Despite several studies on early biomarkers for diabetic nephropathy, the potential biomarkers for predicting diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy in children have not been completely illustrated. Thus, this paper aims to identify all T1DM microvascular complication-related biomarkers in children and adolescents. View this paper
