Advances in Ultrastructural Analysis: Integrating Morphology with Multidisciplinary Research
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Topic aims to collate innovative and cross-disciplinary research that leverages ultrastructural analysis techniques, particularly transmission and scanning electron microscopy (TEM and SEM), to explore biological systems at nanometer resolution.
As ultrastructural imaging becomes increasingly integrated with molecular biology, pathology, materials science, bioengineering, and computational modeling, this Topic seeks to serve as a collaborative platform for interdisciplinary studies that apply high-resolution morphological data to diverse biological questions.
We welcome the submission of original research articles, reviews, and methodological papers from all life science fields, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Cell and developmental biology;
- Neuroscience;
- Immunology;
- Regenerative medicine and organoid models;
- Infectious disease and microbiology;
- Biomaterials and nanomedicine;
- Plant biology;
- Veterinary and environmental sciences.
Submissions may explore innovative imaging workflows, correlative techniques (e.g., CLEM, cryo-EM, EDX), quantitative morphometry, or functional ultrastructural correlations. We especially encourage the submission of studies that combine electron microscopy with omics, live-cell imaging, biophysical modeling, or computational analysis.
As a multidisciplinary Topic, your contribution will be published in the MDPI journal that best fits your field of research, while also appearing in the centralized Topic collection.
This is a unique opportunity to showcase your work to a broader scientific community, foster new collaborations, and contribute to shaping the future of integrative morphological research.
You are welcome to submit your manuscript to any of the participating MDPI journals.
All submissions will undergo the standard peer-review process and will be published in regular issues, clearly labeled as part of this Topic.
We look forward to receiving your contributions and to building a dynamic and high-impact collection together.
