Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The pursuit of sustainable and efficient animal production is paramount in meeting global food demands. In this context, functional feed additives have emerged as pivotal tools to enhance animal productivity, nutrient utilization and gastrointestinal homeostasis, which are beneficial for addressing global challenges of sustainable animal production. This Special Issue of Agriculture, entitled “Functional Feed Additives in Nutrition, Metabolism, Gut and Microorganisms of Monogastric Animals”, aims to gather high-quality original research articles and reviews that advance the understanding of a broad spectrum of functional additives (including but not limited to enzymes, probiotics, prebiotics, postbiotics, organic acids, plant extracts and novel compounds such as antimicrobial peptides) in the nutritional processes of farm animals but other than aquaculture species.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: (1) effects of functional additives on performance, product quality, nutrient digestion, absorption, metabolism and environmental sustainability in poultry, swine, or other monogastric animals; (2) in vitro/in vivo evaluation of functional additive efficacy, optimal dosage, and application strategies; (3) mechanisms underlying intestinal health and immune regulation by functional additives; (4) interactions between functional additives and gut microbiota or environmental factors. Studies that provide novel insights into the mechanisms of action, assess synergistic effects between additives, or evaluate their efficacy under practical farming conditions are particularly encouraged.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Agriculture is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
