Exposome and Metabolic Effects: Neurological Implications of Environmental Pollutants

The Special Issue, titled “Exposome and Metabolic Effects: Neurological Implications of Environmental Pollutants”, focuses on the emerging field of exposomics and its role in understanding the impact of environmental pollutants on human health, particularly the brain. The exposome encompasses the totality of environmental exposures an individual experiences over a lifetime, including pollutants, toxins, and lifestyle factors. This Special Issue explores how various environmental exposures can influence metabolic processes and contribute to neurological disorders, such as neurodegenerative diseases, developmental disorders, and cognitive dysfunction. Through a multidisciplinary approach, it delves into the mechanisms through which pollutants affect neurobiology, brain metabolism, and the interplay between genetic predisposition and environmental factors, offering insights into potential therapeutic interventions and preventive strategies.

We welcome original articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, reviews, and clinical trial articles that provide additional knowledge on the topic “Exposome and Metabolic Effects: Neurological Implications of Environmental Pollutants”.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Metabolites is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
