Cerebrovascular Disease: From Diagnosis to Prognosis

Cerebrovascular disease encompasses a broad spectrum of pathologies, and it is increasingly evident that both common and rare genetic diseases play a significant role in their development. Understanding the genetic underpinnings of cerebrovascular pathologies is crucial for accurate diagnosis, prognosis, and the development of targeted therapeutic interventions.

State-of-the-art imaging technologies have revolutionized our ability to diagnose and monitor cerebrovascular disease. Advanced imaging modalities, such as high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography angiography (CTA), offer detailed visualization of cerebral blood vessels and allow for precise identification of abnormalities. These cutting-edge techniques have not only improved diagnostic accuracy but also enable us to assess the extent and severity of cerebrovascular disease, facilitating personalized treatment strategies.

In this Special Issue, we aim to explore the intricate relationship between genetic diseases, such as ADPKD and Marfan syndrome, and cerebrovascular pathologies. We invite contributions that delve into the genetic mechanisms underlying cerebrovascular complications in these conditions, including the identification of specific genes or mutations associated with increased risk. Additionally, studies elucidating the molecular pathways and cellular processes involved in the development of cerebrovascular diseases are highly encouraged. Finally, articles regarding advanced vascular imaging techniques are welcome.

By bringing together research in this area, we can enhance our understanding of the genetic factors contributing to cerebrovascular diseases and pave the way for improved diagnostic strategies and targeted treatments.
