Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global contamination of food and feed with mycotoxins is causing serious health problems for both humans and animals. Of particular concern are the unknown interactions between mycotoxins and other contaminants and drugs present in the diet. Regulatory guidelines and limits for some mycotoxins in food and feed are constantly being exceeded due to climate change. Their presence in the diet causes not only an immediate risk, but the interactions that occur with other dietary components and contaminants can lead to serious health consequences. Therefore, continuous exposure is resulting in the search for effective methods to reduce mycotoxins in food and feed and mitigate the effects of exposure of organisms to these toxins.
The second thematically expanded Special Issue, ‘Mitigation and Detoxification Strategies of Mycotoxins: 2nd Edition’, aims to bring together the latest research findings on how to reduce contamination and reduce exposure to mycotoxins. In addition, we would be happy to publish the results of studies evaluating toxicological and/or protective interactions between mycotoxins and herbs, drugs, or other components of the human and animal diet that may potentially affect the absorption, metabolism, and excretion of these toxins. Additionally, literature review articles for this issue would also be welcome. We invite you to submit manuscripts to this issue.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Toxins is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
