Sustainable Horticulture: Innovations in Crop Production and Resource Management

This Special Issue of Sustainability invites researchers, practitioners, and innovators to contribute cutting-edge studies that address the urgent need for sustainable solutions in horticultural systems. As global challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, and food security intensify, there is a critical demand for transformative approaches in crop production and resource management. The present study is interested in interdisciplinary research that explores innovative technologies, such as precision agriculture, hydroponics, smart irrigation, biological inputs, and climate-resilient cultivars, alongside agroecological practices that enhance ecosystem services and long-term resilience. Contributions may take the form of experimental studies, case analyses, modelling approaches and policy-oriented research that promote sustainability across the horticultural value chain. Themes of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: optimization of nutrient cycling; management of pests and diseases; water-use efficiency; circular economy strategies; and the socio-economic dimensions of sustainable horticulture. The Special Issue has been conceived with the aim of encouraging dialogue and collaboration within the scientific community, and to support the transition towards more sustainable, productive, and inclusive horticultural systems. To this end, it will gather diverse perspectives and empirical evidence. Submissions from scholars and professionals committed to driving innovation and sustainability in horticulture are warmly encouraged. I look forward to receiving your contributions.  Guest Editor

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
