Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Technologies for Achieving Carbon Neutrality

Dear Colleagues,

The relentless growth of the global energy demand and industrialization has resulted in historically high carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, gravely undermining climate stability. Consequently, there is an urgent need to develop energy-efficient technologies capable of reducing atmospheric CO₂ concentrations while simultaneously mitigating associated pollutant emissions.

In response, carbon neutrality has become a strategic goal worldwide, driving the urgent need for advanced technologies in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS). Emerging approaches—including chemical looping, adsorption–desorption cycles, mineralization and the catalytic conversion of CO₂ into fuels and chemicals—have demonstrated great potential in achieving large-scale emission reductions. However, a great deal of work is still needed to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.

This Special Issue on “Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Technologies for Achieving Carbon Neutrality” seeks high-quality reviews and research papers that involve low-carbon conversion and Environmental Pollution Control. Topics include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Functional materials for CO₂ utilization;
• Chemical looping combustion (CLC);
• New technology for CO₂ capture and CO₂ utilization ;
• Emission of combustion pollutants.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
