Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Composite materials are integral to modern manufacturing and construction, offering enhanced mechanical, thermal, and structural properties over conventional materials. The growing demand for lightweight, high-strength, and thermally efficient materials has spurred extensive research into their design, fabrication, and performance. These materials are increasingly used in diverse industries, including aerospace, automotive, energy, and the built environment, where thermal performance, durability, and sustainability are key factors.
This Special Issue on "Manufacturing Processes and Thermal Properties of Composite Materials" seeks high-quality research on novel fabrication methods, thermal management strategies, and material optimization techniques. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Advanced manufacturing techniques: additive manufacturing, 3D printing of composites, and hybrid processing methods.
- Thermal properties and management: heat resistance, thermal conductivity, and phase change materials in composites.
- Sustainable and smart composites: bio-based and recyclable composites and smart materials with adaptive thermal behavior.
- Mechanical and structural characterization: microstructure-property relationships, fatigue behavior, and thermal degradation analysis.
- Multiscale modeling and simulation: computational approaches for predicting thermal performance and digital twins for material design.
- Applications and case studies:
- Built environment: energy-efficient building envelopes, advanced insulation materials, and passive cooling strategies.
- Aerospace and automotive: lightweight structures and thermal shielding.
- Electronics: thermal management of electronic components.
- Energy sector: high-performance composites for renewable energy systems and thermal storage materials.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
