Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to announce the launch of a new Special Issue of Molecules on “Microwave Irradiation in Organic Chemistry”.
It is now well established that Irradiation of reaction mixtures under microwaves allows reproducible and safe operating conditions for convenient access to various molecules when traditional multistep processes would need long reaction times and unstable and toxic reagents. Most microwave-assisted processes are performed in a highly efficient manner with regard to time and energy saving and simple manipulation.
Considering that chemists would have to discover sustainable methodologies with high feasibility, high yields, and products of good quality, this Special Issue will present an overview of the current state of the field, future developments, and possibilities for application and association of microwaves with other technologies such as Raman spectroscopy, IR detection, ultrasound-assisted heating, and continuous-flow chemistry.
This Special Issue invites scientists to submit original communications, papers, and reviews describing recent advances in the use of microwaves in the various fields of organic chemistry.
The following topics will be covered:
- Microwave irradiation in organic chemistry;
- Catalysis and microwave irradiation and kinetics effects, mechanistic studies;
- Microwave irradiation and green chemistry, MCR reactions, one-pot processes, use of green solvents;
- Microwave irradiation in medicinal chemistry synthesis of drugs and biomaterials;
- Microwave irradiation for scale-up approaches and industrial process development;
- Microwave irradiation in association with Raman spectroscopy, ultrasound, and continuous-flow techniques.

Manuscript Submission Information

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
