Advanced Dynamic Modelling and Uncertainty Research for Complex Engineering Systems
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the publication of a Special Issue entitled Advanced Dynamic Modelling and Uncertainty Research for Complex Engineering Systems.
In the real world, given the complexity of engineering systems and the high cost of experiments, simulation modelling has become an indispensable component in the research and development of such complex engineering systems. However, due to the presence of high-dimensionality and strong nonlinearity, the dynamic and kinematic modelling and solution of such systems are extremely challenging. In addition, in actual production and manufacturing, there exist considerable discrepancies between product and design parameters, leading to deviations between the actual service performance and service life of products and their designed counterparts.
Therefore, this Special Issue will focus on the dynamic and kinematic modelling and solution of complex engineering systems, particularly those engineering applications with advanced attributes or wide-ranging real-world utility. In terms of uncertainty research, this Special Issue will cover the sources and characterization of uncertainties, uncertainty propagation methodologies, and the uncertainties of system responses. We encourage but do not restrict the adoption of surrogate model-based approaches for uncertainty quantification calculations. Additionally, this Special Issue will consider contributions focusing on reliability analysis, provided that the failure criteria are clearly specified in the manuscripts. Optimization methods for uncertainties and reliability are also within the scope of this Special Issue, on the condition that they are closely integrated with practical engineering systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Modelling is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
