Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue of Metabolites, entitled "Metabolic Biomarkers and Cell Metabolism in Cardiomyopathies", will aim to provide an overview of current knowledge and new perspectives in this field.

Cardiomyopathy is a broad and non-specific definition that includes multiple diseases and pathophysiological processes, because of the complex interaction between environment and genetic predisposition. Thus, the treatment depends on the type of cardiomyopathy and the severity of symptoms. Both the functional capacity and efficiency of cells, such as cardio myocytes, are strongly dependent on their metabolic state. Understanding the role of cell metabolism in patients with cardiomyopathy could support a more accurate patient stratification based on metabolic features. Novel metabolic biomarkers that could help in early diagnosis are of growing interest. Lastly, the development of drugs that regulate cellular metabolism leads to the identification of promising novel pharmacological targets.

The purpose is to explore potential biological markers, implicated in cellular metabolism, and evaluate related novel therapeutic strategies. In this Special Issue, original articles and reviews are welcome. We look forward to receiving your contributions.
