Cell Metabolism
A section of Metabolites (ISSN 2218-1989).
Section Information
Cell metabolism sustains life in all living organisms and encapsulates the chemical reactions that facilitate the conversion of exogenous and endogenous small molecules into stored energy as ATP and the building blocks of new cells and tissues that include nucleic acids, amino acids, oligonucleotides, and proteins.
Metabolites publishes research that furthers our understanding of cell metabolism in a wide range of organisms and environments. It welcomes manuscripts which inform on the cellular basis of health and disease, metabolic mechanisms, energy transduction, pathophysiology at the cellular level, redox metabolism, interactions between cells and their environment, signaling linked to cells, metabolism related to subcellular compartments, and drug effects on cellular function. We are particularly interested in research using novel methods, techniques, and areas of application that shed new light on metabolism in cells.
Scope
Topics of interest include:
- Understanding fundamental cellular metabolic processes and functions
- Applications of metabolomics to understand cell metabolism
- Emerging technologies in metabolic research
- Disease metabolism in cells, including in cancer
- Identification of novel metabolites and metabolic processes, including oncometabolites
