Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cruciate ligament injuries, particularly anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tears, represent some of the most common and impactful injuries in sports medicine. Beyond their immediate impact on athletic performance, these injuries carry long-term consequences for joint stability, functional capacity, and the risk of early-onset osteoarthritis if not optimally managed.
This Special Issue, “Cruciate Ligament Injuries in Sport Medicines: Diagnosis, Treatment and Rehabilitation,” aims to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date perspective on the entire continuum of care. The scope includes advances in diagnostic imaging and biomechanical assessment, evolving surgical and minimally invasive techniques, and graft selection and augmentation strategies, as well as structured rehabilitation. Special attention will be given to return-to-sport criteria, injury prevention strategies, and long-term outcomes in both professional and recreational athletes.
We invite original research, clinical trials, and reviews that address the evolving standards of care for cruciate ligament injuries and contribute to improving patient recovery and performance.
Through this collection, we aim to foster an integrated understanding of cruciate ligament injuries, bridging cutting-edge science with clinical application, and ultimately contributing to improved recovery, performance, and quality of life for athletes worldwide.
