2010	The inaugural issue was released by PAGEPress. International Journal of Plant Biology was published as an annual journal.
2012	IJPB was indexed in Scopus (Elsevier), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
2022	Publication of International Journal of Plant Biology was transferred to MDPI from Volume 13, Issue 1 (2022). International Journal of Plant Biology adopted a quarterly publication schedule.
2023	International Journal of Plant Biology established the following sections: Plant Physiology; Plant Ecology and Biodiversity; Plant Response to Stresses; Plant–Microorganisms Interactions; Plant Biochemistry and Genetics; Plant Reproduction; Plant Communication; Application of Artificial Intelligence in Plant Biology.
2025	International Journal of Plant Biology received its increased CiteScore (2024) of 3.0, ranked 221/534 (Q2) in Plant Science category.
