Early Career Investigator Award

We are pleased to announce that the winners of the Forests 2022 Early Career Investigator Award are Dr. Jürgen Knauer and Dr. Mianhai Zheng.
Dr. Jürgen Knauer is a postdoctoral research fellow of the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment at Western Sydney University, Penrith, Australia. His research interests include environment, climate change, ecosystem ecology, plant physiology, ecohydrology, ecosystem modeling, land surface modeling, carbon cycle, stomatal conductance and mesophyll conductance. Dr. Jürgen Knauer received his PhD in 2019 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 34 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. Jürgen Knauer’s Scopus Scientific Citations number is 2447 and his Hirsch index is 20. He is clearly a rising star in the field of biogeochemistry. Dr. Mianhai Zheng is an Associate Professor of the South China Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Guangzhou, China. His research interests include forest ecology. Dr. Mianhai Zheng received his PhD in 2020 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 40 publications in peer-reviewed international journals. Dr. Mianhai Zheng’s Scopus Scientific Citations number is 1141 and his Hirsch index is 18. He is clearly a rising star in the field of forest ecology. As the awardees, Dr. Jürgen Knauer and Dr. Mianhai Zheng will each receive an honorarium of CHF 1000, an option to publish two papers in Forests with a 50% discount on the article processing charge before 31 December 2024 in Forests after peer-review and an electronic certificate.

Eligibility and Requirements
– Must have received a PhD degree on or after 1 January 2018;– Must have produced ground-breaking research and made a significant contribution to the advancement of forest science;
– Candidates must be nominated by senior scientists.
